Gordon Povey Vice President, Mobile Development
Gordon Povey is a successful academic and recognized thoughtleader in cellular communications.
Having studied electronics and communications at university, Gordon was awarded his doctorate in wireless communications in 1993. Thereafter Gordon began a successful academic career, teaching communications systems and leading research in wireless technology at the University of Edinburgh.
His research at Edinburgh in signal processing and cellular communications led to prestigious consultancies for the Ministry of Defence and for companies such as BT and Nokia. Gordon then went on to establish his own commercial outlet for his formidable academic expertise.
Gordon founded and was Managing Director of Elektrobit (UK) Ltd. It was established in 1999 as a subsidiary of the Elektrobit Corporation, the Finnish automotive and wireless solutions provider. As the inventor of the Tri-cell Intelligent Location System (TILS), he led Elektrobit (UK)’s management buy-out from its parent and managed the first round of funding for the company he established in Dunfermline, Scotland as Trisent Communications Limited.
Gordon remained Managing Director of Trisent Communications until the company’s acquisition by Artilium in February 2008, when he became Artilium’s Vice President of Mobile Development. He is also an Honorary Fellow of the University of Edinburgh.
