Paul Gratton Non-Executive Director
Paul is best known for his role as chief executive officer of Egg, the world’s largest stand-alone Internet bank.
He has distinguished himself as an entrepreneur and has a proven track record of developing organizations that consumers trust, and that people love to work for and are proud of. Since Egg was acquired by Prudential in 2006, he has divided his time across a range of executive and non-executive roles for start-ups including Artilium, gasbox, Edeus Mortgages and Evocell. He also continues to develop his first start-up business, Direct Valuations, which he established more than eighteen years ago and which now accounts for approximately 5% of the residential surveying market in the UK.
Paul started his career at Midland Bank and was part of the think-tank that created First Direct, where he served as financial services director. From there he went on to be operations director in the start-up team that became Prudential Banking and ultimately Egg. Paul was the chief operating officer when Egg launched in 1998 and became Egg’s CEO on 1 January 2001.
