Richard Hooper Non-Executive Chairman

Richard Hooper is one of the UK’s leading figures in the communications industry.

From 2002-2005 he was founding deputy chairman of the UK’s Office of Communications (Ofcom).  Prior to that time, he was chairman of the Radio Authority.  He also was a radio and television producer at the BBC; chief executive officer of the Value Added Systems & Services division of British Telecom; and chief executive officer of the satellite channel Super Channel.  He recently stepped down as chairman of the £2.5 billion Informa plc after nine years on the board.

Since 1988 his pluralist career has combined board positions across the public and private sector with strategic consulting assignments for telcos, media and technology companies.  Most recently, he was appointed by Secretary of State for Business, John Hutton, to Chair the Government Postal Review.  He also serves as a non-executive director of Yell Group plc., and is a mentor for Isabel Bird’s new Boardroom Mentoring company.
