Mobile Presence
Overview
Artilium’s Mobile Presence solution combines information about the location and state of users and intelligently aggregates the results on the basis of user preferences. This allows for automated delivery of communications to the right person in the right format at the right time and supports operators in their shift towards Customer Value Innovation, a move from traditional voice/SMS-focused services to new services that offer differentiation, personalization, participation and simplicity.
Presence is a function of location, state and intelligence
In order to determine a user’s presence, the ARTA platform combines user:
- Location. This is covered by Artilium’s Tri-cell Intelligent Location System (TILS) and/or alternative sources. It allows determining user’s coordinates (absolute location) and user’s proximity to a known place (relative location);
- State. Status helps determine a user’s availability and willingness to communicate. Within ARTA state can be determined in many ways, such as by user’s connectivity (if their mobile or desktop device is turned on, receiving a call or if logged into a communications client) and location (if e.g. the user is in a meeting room, at home, traveling);
- Intelligence. By combining state and location with awareness of user’s means of communications and preferences, ARTA can intelligently derive a full understanding of a user’s presence.
Knowing user presence opens exiting opportunities for operators and businesses in the fields of amongst others (more relevant) advertising, unified communications, social networking and customer relationship management.
OCS Integration
Microsoft Office Communication Server (OCS) is transforming the workplace, introducing new sophistication in communications between colleagues and between businesses, their clients and partners. The ARTA platform uses the desktop functionality of OCS’s presence awareness and enhances it for the mobile environment. ARTA:
- Co-joins OCS desktop presence features with mobile presence determination;
- Facilitates one single phone number to reach both mobile and desktop devices;
- Allows for extensive call diversion scenarios based on time, location, the importance of an incoming call and so on;
- Enables seamless GSM-WIFI voice handovers.
