Charging & Rating > Prepaid
Overview
Prepaid rates can be applied to fixed and mobile voice services, text and multimedia. ARTA’s flexibility lets operators establish prepaid credits and limit their expenditures to weekly, daily or other amounts all delivered and monitored real-time. The technology also enables self-care customer services and allows operators to extend their commercial reach.
Authentication, Authorization and Accounting
In a prepaid scenario:
- Authentication identifies a user before access is granted. Typically, this occurs after the user enters a valid number and a valid PIN code if needed;
- Authorization has to be given before making a call or using a service. A set of parameters is used by the rating engine to determine, in real time, which tariff to apply depending upon the service, destination, user profile, or type of subscription. This rating combined with a credit check, authorizes and controls the connection accordingly;
- Accounting measures the resources a user consumes during access. This accounting can be simple but also very complex (bundled tariffs, free minutes, multicounter etc) and is carried out real-time.
Customer self-care
ARTA interfaces with Interactive Voice Response (IVR) options or via internet interfaces, diminishing the cost of customer support teams. Users can for example easily monitor their phone usage, opt-in for specific services and add credit through these interfaces.
Flexibility and extend commercial reach
The ARTA platform enables operators to easily launch prepaid offerings such as calling cards, scratch cards, top-ups and others. This creates opportunities to target particular social communities and serve subsections of the population, which previously were very difficult to reach.
